The Washington Department of Labor (DOL)vworks to protect the rights of workers, the unemployed that
are looking for work and retirees. They may work in concert with other
governmental agencies in order to protect those individuals’ rights.

The Washington Department of Labor may work with retirees that have had issues with social
security payments. For example, some retirees may find that they do not receive
the full amount of benefits because there is a problem with paperwork. For
instance, an employer may not have contributed what they were suppose to while
the individual was employed there. The Washington Department of Labor will
assist that individual in rectifying the situation.

The Washington State DOL will also assist those that are looking for work. For instance, some
individuals may face issues of discrimination, which will be quickly investigated by the DOL. The Washington State DOL may interview
anyone that may have witnessed the discrimination of any others that have made
similar allegations.

The Washington State DOL will also help those that are employed in the State. For instance, the
DOL will help ensure that every employee in the State has access to a safe
working environment. They will also investigate allegations of discrimination
or employers that do not allow employees to take legally required breaks after
they have worked a certain number of hours.
