The US Department of Labor helps to set wages and working standards for those that work in the United States. While each state has its own laws and regulations, there are Federal standards as well. The US Department of Labor helps to establish the Federal standards, which is often used as an outline for local standards. No local standards may fall below the standards set out by the US DOL.

The United States Department of Labor works to establish regulations which ensure that workers are provided safe working conditions and they they are not at risk for injuries at the workplace.
